What is Notice Pay?

Notice pay is the compensation that must be paid by the party who wishes to terminate the employment contract without providing prior notice to the other party. It is regulated under Article 17 of the Turkish Labor Law No. 4857.

Notice Periods

According to Article 17 of the Labor Law, notice periods are determined based on service duration:

0-6 months of service: 2 weeks

6-18 months of service: 4 weeks

18-36 months of service: 6 weeks
4
36+ months of service: 8 weeks

Who Pays Notice Pay?

Employer who terminates without observing the notice period
Employee who resigns without observing the notice period
Notice pay does not apply to fixed-term contracts
